Launching an Imperfect Website

Dark Mode Off

launchWe’ve been working on our new website for months. Design after design, code after code — lots of folks involved and we just keep working on it.

With all of the other projects we have active, it’s hard to set aside time for our own stuff sometimes. As a result, the new website started to spin it’s wheels a bit. Weeks have gone by and we’ve not made much progress because we’ve been to busy on other things.

Well… I decided to do something drastic today — just launch it.

Is it perfect? Nope.
Is it 100% cross browser checked? Not yet.
Does the code validate? Not even close.
Will we lose any prospective clients over it? Maybe, but do we really want those folks as clients?
Is anyone going to die as a result? Nope. Thankfully, we’re not in the medical field.

Here’s the thing, sometimes you’ve just got to jump in the deep end to get things done. Now that it’s live, there is an urgency from everyone on our team to take another look and fix something.

So today we launched an imperfect site — it may have some broken links,  messed up grammar, filler content and more — but it’s live. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying it’s ok to put out junk, but what I am saying is that sometimes it’s ok to go live with good enough and work toward the end goal.

We’ll get it cleaned up soon and it will be great — but for now, it’s still better than what we had before.

Find something broken? Leave it in the comments below and we’ll correct it along with everything else over the next few weeks.

When in doubt, just launch it and clean it up along the way.

(P.S. Team, let’s fix all the imperfect…)
